Long Island dentist Dr. Rybak shares a case that could have been avoided.

Why is it important to see your dentist for regular check ups?

This is a first mandibular molar (tooth #30).  The patient experienced no pain and had no check up for over one year.  A deep cavity was present which caused an infection, requiring a root canal.  If this patient waited longer, they could have lost the tooth because of how quickly the cavity was growing.  Always get your 6 month check ups to avoid costly procedures.   This tooth will also require a crown along with a few adjunctive procedures.
